Sarah + Jonathan | Wedding
A Tender Love - Lancaster, PA
On an overcast day, May 21, 2016, with the weather forecast calling for rain, we prepared ourselves for dark skies and indoor photos. As Sarah and Jonathan prepared themselves for their wedding day with an attitude that was completely relaxed, the clouds disappeared and they were treated to two hours of bright skies! We hurried outside and captured a beautiful first look, bridal party images, and amazing bridal portraits.
We then headed back to the church for a bit more private time with the bride and groom as they exchanged handwritten love letters to each other and honored each other by washing each other's feet. Having photographed foot washing ceremonies previously, I was sure I was prepared. I was not. As we photographed Sarah and Jonathan, their tender love for God and each other, we were brought to tears as quiet bystanders to their love. It was one of the most powerful and humbling ceremonies I have ever witnessed. They displayed pure humility as they spoke to each other and then washed each other's feet. We stopped to thank both Sarah and Jonathan for allowing us to be part of this sacred moment as it was so inspiring to see the love for each other and the foundation of their marriage.
We then headed into a beautiful wedding ceremony filled with family, prayers and love. Woodcrest Retreat was the reception venue site. The reception was casual and filled with stories shared by family and friends, much laughter, and amazing food. A beautiful display of delicious cupcakes awaited the guest and a fun cake smashing took place as well. We assured Sarah that she may end up catching the shorter end of the stick with the cake smash as her reach is not quite what Jonathans is. Clearly, Sarah enjoyed every second.
